CLARENCE THOMAS CONTINUES MOCKERY OF ROBERTS’ SUGGESTION TO DO LESS CORRUPTION

(April 16, 2024) – During this morning’s oral arguments in Fischer v. United States, a case that will determine whether the government can charge January 6 insurrectionists with obstruction of a congressional proceeding, Clarence Thomas downplayed the gravity of the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol.

“In a surprise to no one, Clarence Thomas is continuing his brazen mockery of John Roberts’ polite suggestion to do less corruption,” said Sarah Lipton-Lubet, president of Take Back the Court. “In a functioning democracy, a judge wouldn’t be in a position to rule on the severity of an insurrection his spouse helped organize. But that’s the judiciary we’re dealing with until we expand and rebalance this broken court.”
