SUPREME COURT TO HEAR CASE FROM LEGAL TEAM THAT INCLUDES ALITO PR CHAMPION

(December 4, 2023) – Tomorrow, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Moore v. US, a case where the justices could once again loosen regulations for wealthy donors and corporations. One of the lead attorneys for the plaintiff in Moore is David B. Rivkin Jr. — a Wall Street Journal opinion writer who earlier this year sat down for multiple sympathetic interviews with Alito before and after reports revealed evidence of the justice’s ethical misconduct.

“Tomorrow, the Supreme Court will hear a case launched by a legal team that includes a leading participant in Justice Alito’s recent PR campaign in response to reports of his corrupt behavior,” said Sarah Lipton-Lubet, president of Take Back the Court. “Alito seems to prefer softball questions, but here’s what we want to know: why hasn’t he recused himself from a case where he can easily return the favor?”

Lipton-Lubet continued: “The justices may have churned out a toothless ethics code, but their behavior is the true test of their respect for norms and ethics rules. From where the American people stand, any support Alito has claimed to have for judicial ethics has once again proven to be hollow lip service.”
