(July 12, 2023) – Today, a new report in The Guardian revealed that several lawyers who had business before the Supreme Court sent money to one of Clarence Thomas’ top aides at the justice’s 2019 Christmas party via Venmo. The transactions were reportedly labeled “Christmas party”, “Thomas Christmas Party”, “CT Christmas Party” and “CT Xmas party.”

“Every 20-year-old stoner knows you don’t leave a paper trail of your actions in the Venmo description box; it shouldn’t take a genius to understand that that rule of thumb also applies to potential bribery of Supreme Court justices,” said Alexa Barrett, spokesperson for Take Back the Court. “With each new, daily scandal, the Supreme Court’s record-low credibility sinks even further.”
